Strange times in a strange place.

This is the most run down, poor, and violent area I have ever lived in. Two strange experiences this weekend though:

1) People living here talk to each other, my neighbour, who I'm informed is more than a little odd, talks to me whenever he sees me, and him and another neighbour talk to each other in the halls, they enjoy each others company. When I came out, they had an extensive, and pretty friendly conversation with me (which was a little odd). I've not seen that anywhere else.

2) I got random abuse from a gang of what I'd normally refer to as neds today. One of them called me a "fat poof". This, I had been expecting, and was frankly water off a duck's back, what I wasn't expecting was one of the others to have a go at his mate for saying it. (can't remember what he said, but "ye speccy cunt" was in there somewhere)

aitkendrum gets hassled regularly by local neds for a) his weight and b) his hair color. Somehow his sexual orientation is measured by either or both of these.
