Why Xenophanean?
Xenophanes was an ancient Greek (I think) Philosopher who took an unusual attitude to his study of the world.
Whilst the majority of the philosophical movement at the time thought that all that needed to be known about the world could be generated through pure thought and debate with each other, Xenophanes travelled the world, noting the existence of fossils and the differences in beliefs and religions between different peoples.
Now, although the fruit of Xenophanes' studies were not always correct (his elemental system is very confusing and somewhat nonsensical), I feel that his way of thinking was admirable. Remember to look with your eyes at what is actually occuring rather than trusting to what you have been told. Beware systems of thinking which lead to far from the truth.
So... Is this what I intend to do with this LiveJournal? See the real truth behind things? Well, maybe a little. I suspect I'm going to use it more for venting emotions, putting down random thoughts, and generally writing about myself and stupid stuff. Well, that's the intro!
